The work is grounded at the intersection of Blackness, migration, and democracy — rooted in the experiences of Black migrants and intentionally inclusive of all migrants and all people who believe in collective safety and a healthy democracy.

ABOUT

The National and Global Call to Minnesota is a targeted 90-day activation mobilizing coordinated national and international solidarity to protect migrants, local communities, and democratic values. It is anchored by the Minnesota Black Migrant Coalition — a cross cultural alliance of Black leaders and organizations committed to safeguarding the dignity, safety, and well-being of Black migrants. This effort serves as a proactive response to the recent surge of federal enforcement actions unfolding across Minnesota and it’s lasting harmful impact.

For months, our members have been on the ground working directly with impacted families — mobilizing resources across legal support, food access, transportation, interpretation, and other urgent community needs. Our work is grounded at the critical intersection of Blackness, migration, and democracy, centering Black migrant experiences while advancing conditions that strengthen safety, dignity, and democratic participation for all. We move beyond symbolic gestures into tangible, invitation-based action that channels solidarity into real support, infrastructure, and lasting people power.

Our Mission

Our primary mission is to uphold the dignity of our Black, migrant and underrepresented Minnesota neighbors and communities by rapidly elevating national and global pressure and coordinated support. We strive to increase resources and community power for local safety and defense, creating a model of resilience that prevents militarized operations from eroding democratic protections here or in other regions.

Where Your Donation Goes

Your donation helps support The National and Global Call to Minnesota and the work of the Minnesota Black Migrant Coalition. The Black Collective Foundation of Minnesota serves as our primary vehicle for resource stewardship. As the state's first Black community foundation, it ensures that all contributions are directed toward Black-led organizations and critical infrastructure, guaranteeing that support is handled with transparency and deep community accountability.

    • Narrative Shifting: Commit to using your platform, whether in faith spaces, labor unions, or academic institutions, to share our vision, ensuring the story of our resilience is heard across the globe.

Our
Goals

  • Mobilize national and global attention and resources to meet the immediate needs of our community.

    • Contribute to Community Wellness: Support local mutual aid networks that provide essential services, such as food, housing and medical care, directly to migrant families and underrepresented districts.

    • Direct-to-Community Funding: Prioritize donations to grassroots funds led by Black and migrant organizers who possess the cultural competency to reach those most in need.

    • Share the Vision: Help us spread a narrative of community strength by highlighting the proactive efforts of local leaders to keep their neighbors safe and supported.

  • Help shape the narrative to ensure support is community-led and centers the voices of those most impacted.

    • Practice Collaborative Allyship: Before initiating projects, reach out to community-based organizations to learn how your skills and resources can best serve the established goals of local, Black and migrant-led groups.

    • Center Vulnerable Voices: If you are a member of the media or a public advocate, prioritize the perspectives of residents who live and work in the most affected, underrepresented areas.

    • Vet Partnerships for Accountability: Ensure any supporting organization has a proven track record of working within, and being accountable to, Black and migrant communities.

  • Use this moment to shift policy and practice toward a more inclusive and resilient democracy.

    • Champion Inclusive Policy: Support initiatives that clarify and strengthen protections for "sensitive locations" to ensure they remain safe havens for all community members.

    • Advocate for Racial Equity: Join coalitions working to ensure that state and local legislation explicitly protects Black and migrant communities from systemic profiling or discrimination.

    • Join the Constitutional Dialogue: Participate in efforts to ensure that due process and equal protection remain the gold standard for all residents, regardless of background or origin.

  • Strengthen enduring organizing infrastructure to protect our neighbors long after the cameras leave.

    • Sponsor Leadership Pipelines: Fund training programs that equip young people from migrant and Black communities with the skills to lead local organizing and civic efforts.

    • Invest in Local Capacity: Provide long-term grants or technical support to grassroots organizations to help them sustain their vital work beyond the current moment of crisis.

    • Foster Cross-Sector Solidarity: Help build bridges between health care, labor, and faith sectors to create a unified community of care that protects the most vulnerable among us.
